Shaare Zedek Medical Center

Overview

The Helmsley Cancer Center is a 12,000 m², six-floor comprehensive oncology centre at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, opened in 2023. Designed by Farrow Partners with Rubinstein-Ofer Architects following salutogenic, neuroscience-informed principles, the building takes the shape of a butterfly — soaring ‘wings’ that flood the interior with filtered daylight. It houses an advanced CT suite and four linear accelerators, bringing all of the hospital’s oncology services under one roof.

Scope

In collaboration with timber fabricator Wiehag (Austria), custom Rhino plug-ins and Grasshopper definitions automated the full Digital Twin of the interior and exterior mass-timber structure, including all steel details.

Outcome

Beyond fabrication data, the workflow generated container packing plans for transport of the timber from Austria to Israel — coordinating manufacturing and logistics in a single automated chain.
